East Orange’s story is an inspiring tale of grit, tenacity, a unique brand of compassion for community and friends, courage and competitiveness. This spirit has given rise to many locally, nationally and internationally known leaders in many diverse areas including the visual and performing arts, music, literature, science, education, sports, entertainment, business, religion, government, military and philanthropy. It is therefore in the public interest to recognize the unique achievements of these outstanding East Orange citizens through the creation of the East Orange Hall of Fame. Until now, they have never existed side-by- side, in one place.
Recognizing these great people in such a distinguished and visible way brings this honor directly to our community and schools, and reinforces the message to our children that they can and should strive for excellence in any endeavor of their choosing. By presenting significant and powerful role models, the East Orange Hall of Fame is a source of learning, inspiration and East Orange Pride!
The East Orange Hall of Fame Scholarship Foundation Inc (EOHOF) established in 2015 is a subsidiary of Alumni United Development Corporation. Alumni United expects to receive its 501(c)(3) non profit designation in 2017. Alumni United elects the EOHOF Board of Directors who are responsible for planning, promoting and coordinating fundraising activities, programs, events and other endeavors that may affect its financial growth. And for determining how revenue and contributions should be allocated for the support of EOHOF projects, programs and events; the support of charitable organizations that directly inspire East Orange children and the greater community; and administrative and other expenses.
